New Forum Style Option
New Forum Style Option
I have been working on getting a new forum layout for your convenience. You will notice near the top of the forum (under the Notary Locator) a new option titled "Template Chooser". Select UNAA Latest and give it a test drive. You will get the most recent posts as soon as you log into the forum. From there you will see two tabs at the top to view by latest or to view by category. To post a new post you need to be in category view.
Hope you like it. If we get enough response we will make it the default layout. Otherwise, we can leave things as is and you can choose whichever layout best suits you.
Good Luck and enjoy.
Re: New Forum Style Option
My preference is to keep the default style. I like to be able to immediately go to the last post since often it is the only new one I haven't read. If there is more than one new post, then I will go to the category view to see the new threads. JMO

Re: New Forum Style Option
Thanks Paul.
However the new style actually posts the most recent topic right at the top of the page and flags you if there is a new post. So instead of going to multiple categories, all unread topics are laid out for you.
Mind you, this new version was developed for a few people that have contacted me in the past and have voiced that our forum was too complex for the to follow. Is was designed for ease of use for those that don't want to click to much
Re: New Forum Style Option
It may take some getting used to - I kinda prefer the old layout so enjoy the option of choosing, however I will work with it some more and see how the new look feels - sometimes first impressions are not all they're cracked up to be.

Re: New Forum Style Option
So H
You think the forum looks better without the left margin site index.... or something? Although much of that index is not used much probably[since it's also up top] - there was one piece of info which was a contant that I liked, which was showing who was signed in and that is gone also - any plans to put it somewhere else?
And let me say the 'wider look to the forum works well, I think.,

Re: New Forum Style Option
William, it's only gone in the forum. It still displays on all other pages. I prefer the wider view of the forum and that's why I did what I did. As for putting it somewhere else, I will see what I can do. Problem is, if I change it for the forum, it will change everywhere else.
I would like to try this as is for a while and see about putting it back later if we don't like it.
The main reason for removing the left menu column in the forum, is many of our replies are quite long. This make for less scrolling.
Re: New Forum Style Option
I like the new Forum style....except I miss seeing all the info about the person writing (where are they from, are they new etc). The wider size is great.
I believe H that it is time for another limbo contest :13:

Anytime, how low can you go?
I love the new forum format (now that you told me to go to the avatar)
I like having the new stuff come up since last viewing and the wider size.
