United Notary Association of America is a national organization focused
on education and high performance standards for the Notary and Signing
Agent. It is through the implementation of state chapters, that we will
be able to better serve the industry and aid in developing
standardization.
The UNAA originated within the Midwest, more specifically, Sioux City, Iowa in an effort to work in conjunction with the Secretaries of State in the tri-state area of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota to provide a continuing education and advanced training to prepare for e-notarization. One signing agent made this connection with the Secretary of State that others in the state had not even attempted until they had the opportunity to follow on the heels of the MWNA. A husband and wife signing agent team have funded the association since inception from their signing agent income. It has been a vision to provide an open, friendly environment to educate and inform the Notary and Signing Agent where others have failed. As the industry has slowed, it has been a vision to see that the highly experienced, seasoned NSA gets the recognition and compensation they so richly deserve. It is through the implementation and promotion of the UNAA Elite membership that this is being accomplished. Unlike other organizations who allow $$ for placement, the only way to attain the higher placement in the UNAA is to be a leader and/or an Elite member. These positions are only acquired through an Elite application process by which one must prove their knowledge and excellent customer service as well as longevity and experience within the industry. This is not to say we leave the new inexperienced people behind. We have been asked, "Don’t you feel by being so open to the new notaries, you are creating more competition?" to which our response has been, ‘No. It is through not being open to help and train that the entire industry has suffered. Through new NSA's attempting to act as a Signing Agent with no resources to learn is what has crippled the reputation of the industry as a whole’. The popularity of the MWNA and the information within the website became widespread to NSA's on a national level. As the membership expanded beyond the Midwest, we answered the request of the members renaming the association United Notary Association of America (UNAA) with a web address of www.unitednotaries.org. |
